I am currently looking after a foster cat who is driving me mad. She is a young cat spayed last week. As I have other cats she is confined within a small room .At 3 am she howls and it sounds as if she is throwing her whole body at the door. Yesterday she mastered how to break out by moving the door handle.I have had to tie the outside handle to the bannister to prevent escape. She is warm, fed and has toys but is probably bored . she loves attention She is fine most of the day can I change her body clock?Any suggestions? p.s hopefully she will be homed soon after the second part of her vaccination in 2 weeks time.

I think you will probably just have to ignore her, so she knows she is not going to get any attention during the night, and hope she settles down, the only thing I can think of is play with her before you go to bed and maybe wear her out a little, I have noticed the darker a room is the more my cats sleep, I have black out blinds in the bedroom, I find them quite good, other than that try a few drops of rescue remedy in the water, I know my cats hate closed doors, and if I shut a door one of mine would rattle all night at the handle until it opened. Hopefully somebody might have some good advice.
