I bought one on saturday at Pets at Home and their fab!. They really encourage the cats to drink as well, especially when their eating dry food. My lot love a tap running so i had a feeling it would be money well spent, so i would really recommend them. Heres the proof ;D

Yes water fountains are excellent, we have them in all our outdoor pens. I now have a fountain and pond outside so the cats here love that instead, especially so now there are fish in it.......hahaha

I like the little pink tongues, looks a great success.
Do they have a filter in or something or do you just fill them with water?

Yes you just fill it up, insert the filter and switch it on. It's so quiet as well!.
But speaking of filters. I never leave it switched on if i'm not in the house or if i'm asleep, and yesterday i came home to find the top of the fountain where it says "Petmate" on the carpet?. I knew it was Jack but i couln't figure out how he got the top off?.
I put it back on and thought nothing more about it, and last night just as i was falling asleep Jack started meowing like Rosie does and i thought "Here he comes bringing me a toy".
He jumped on the bed and dropped his toy beside my face, or so i thought it was his toy but it was wet?. It was only the filter from the fountain!!.
He'd stuck his paw through the hole where the water comes out at the top and pulled the filter up and that's how the top was off the fountain!.
What a kid LOL

I think I might have to get along to Pets at Home and get one for Mols - she doesn't drink from the tap but if you run a tap into a sink or bath, she'll quite happily lap up the water!

LOL at Jack, typical boy, taking things apart I also wondered about leaving them swithched on, but that explains that, so do you have to change the filter every so often?

I'll have to check, but i think it says to change the filter every 30 or 60 days?. You get 2 in with the fountain though ;D I think i'll have to take the filter out every night now because he did it again last night
