Just over a year ago, I adopted 2 kittens from CatsProtection. I had previously had 2 cats, but one had run away, and her brother was really depressed. With this in mind I adopted 2 kittens: an all black one who we have called Elrond, and a tabby who we've called Gandalf. The 2 kittens were full of mischief & endlessly curious of our cat (Optimus), much to his displeasure, but I am pleased to say that within 6 weeks he had taken to them, & they were all friends. One year on, & the 3 are inseparable. They sleep together, play together & roam around in a pack. They are the most friendly cats I have ever known, & have given confidence to our 1st cat. He is a different cat altogether, allowing other people to touch him, & generally being a friendlier cat. Adopting the 2 kittens was the best move I ever made. It got Optimus out of the cupboard, & gave him 2 wonderful playmates. We are now one big happy family - thanks to all at CP who helped us with this adoption, I think I can honestly say we have 3 of the happiest cats in Newcastle RAY.

Aw Ray, thats wonderful to hear !
We so seldom get feedback, and rarely hear the happy endings, but yours is wonderful to hear, and I am so please Optimus is a happier cat.
I always advise people in a similar position to adopt a pair of kittens, as that way, during the initial stages when the existing cat hates them, they dont feel rejected and continue to play, allowing the existing cat to join in as and when it wants too.
Its lovely to hear I was right, and I can now tell anyone doubting me to read your posting.
Thank You !

i totally agree with the two kittens adoption harriet has had so much fun with molly, but there was a six month gap before i got molly and it took careful introductionsl at the time i wished i had got two together, when i got harriet she had been returned back to the rescue centre as somebody had taken her and after two days took her back as they already had a cat and said they did not get along, two days is no period to introduce cats it took me 4 weeks lol, i think thats why i chose her, and she has been brilliant.
