Share your stories here. As a cat owner, you must have stories, funny ones, sad ones and amazing ones. These stories can help someone assess whether or not a cat is the right pet for them. When I married my second husband, he didnt know that cats all had different personalities, and he isnt alone, so come on, please, share those stories with us all.

When the weather is nice we like to have our conservatory doors open. Itsy comes and goes, in and out and quite often brings a bird (always alive) into the house for a play. I've lost count the amount of times I've come downstairs to find a blackbird fluttering aroung my house or Itsy staring at the floor in the hallway waiting for the bird to start to fly! A few weeks ago I JUST stopped him from running into the house with a LIVE mouse!!! He dropped it when I chased him and it scurried away outside. He stays inside at night but loves to sleep lying on top of me, so if i lie on my front he lies on my back and vice versa! But he then has to keep touching my face with his paw and his purrrrrr is louder than my husbands snore. Stupid me just lies there coz i dont want to upset him!!! I woke up at 4am the other morning to find him in a 'Garfield' position. He had been chasing a fly which had gone between the wall and our spindly bed. Imagine the scene, wooden bed with a 'headboard' with spindles against the bedroom wall, only approx 6 inches gap..............he had his two front paws on the top of the bed-head and his back legs splayed out gripping the spindles with his fluffy belly on show............so I woke up looked above me and saw this black and white fluffy thing in a star shape clinging on to the head board. He just looked at me as if to say, 'WHAT??!!' In fact he does things like that everyday.....................LOVE HIM!!

Compaired to the girls, Jack is VERY mischevious and he's into everything!. He carries his toys up and down stairs, but he's also in the habit of dragging my knickers off the airer in the spare room and brings them either onto my bed through the night or downstairs in the livingroom The best one though is the top of the water fountain. I have to tape it down with masking tape because he gets the top off and gets the filter out. I had that brought onto the bed one night and naturally it was dripping wet, but 2 weeks ago, and i'm still wondering how he did it?, he managed to get the top off again masking tape and all, and came trotting downstairs with the maskingtape in his mouth with the top of the fountain still attached!. He hid his stash under the sofa in the conservatory I love my boy though ;D

just thought i'd let you know that the cat that appeared on our shed roof last october is still living with us all and is very happy. All our 3 cats are or have been strays or unwanted, we have 2 pure white females, and a black and white tom, all of which are the most beautiful and happy friends we have ever had. Our tom cat Bobo looks after me, i suffer from blackouts and if he is in the house when i have a blackout he comes and either lies on me or paws at me to try and bring me round. I remember when Bobo first started visiting us, he was so very thin, covered in fleas and ticks , and had a really bad limp, he looked in such a bad way we didn't think he would make it, he was also very vicious and would scratch and try to bite you but with time and patience he started to let us get closer and day by day he trusted us more and more, within a month we let himin our home after de fleaing him and brushing him, it didn't take him long to rule the house. i couldn't imagine our lives without cats as part of our family.

Thank You Lilian for sharing that with us. It is wonderful to hear such an uplifting story which proves that not all cats are as self centred as people believe.
I too had a rogue domestic who came to live with us, he was in a bad way when he arrived, and I had to cage him in order to treat his many abscesses, and to be honest I have to admit he scared me, even though he did nothing to make me feel scared.
He remained in that cage of his own free will for over 3 months, refusing to leave it even though the door was open. Then one morning he was sitting at the back door. Again, he stayed there, but responded at feeding time, with a walk over to the bowls, shared by several of my feral girls and started to eat.
His job became that of a guardian, and he did his job well until he died a few years ago. He kept his girls safe and followed me into the garden, always sitting at a distance keeping an eye out.
We all felt he was our ' German Shepherd' and it was heart breaking to find him dead one Christmas morning.
I will never forget Roly, and to this day he is a big miss in our household.
Such cats are precious.

i always think you don't choose cats rather cats choose you! I'm sure bobo tells all his friend s "come to our house, you'll get god food and lots of cuddles" We have got another cat coming round who is lovely we feed him 4-5 times daily he has been coming round for about 8 months now, his former owner i have been told split from his wife and the bloke had a breakdown, he blames the cat for him being ill so threw him out and won't have him back in the house, he is such a lovely boy, but is afraid of men, he is out in all weathers and i feel so sorry for him.My boy doesn't like him so we can't take him in, so i'm trying to find someone who will give him a loving home where cat sit on a nice warm lap and have cuddles. he loves being brushed and stroked and purrs very load. So if you know anybody who will give him a loving home i would appreciate it. I don't want to put him in the cat and dog shelter incase they put him to sleep. so any help from all you cat lovers out there would be appreciated

What a shame for the poor cat, and how kind of you to feed it, I understand people have problems, but it is still no excuse for throwing out an animal, I think before you could rehome the cat you would probably have to have his permission, as the cat is his property, on the other hand the cat is his responsibility and he has threw it out which is abandonning an animal, I am sure Chris will be able to give some good advice on this.

Hi Lilian
Yes Fyona is right, the law states that EVERY cat has an owner and it is the duty of the finder to locate that owner before passing the animal onto a rescue etc.
So, the owner would have to sign the cat over to a rescue.
Currently the situation is so bad I doubt anyone could take him, we have 79 on a waiting list and I am refusing around 15 - 20 daily, as we just cannot cope..
The Dog and Cat are really pushed also, with cats being dumped at the gates daily.
This is the worst year for people wanting to 'get rid' of their cats, and that is their expression, as I hear it daily. I have always said that many folk 'get rid' of their cats rather than place them in a cattery when going on holiday, then on their return, get a kitten and start again.
This cat is lucky to have you caring for him.

i'd rather go without a holiday than dump my girls because of the price of a cattery .............Just as well really as it's because of the pets we never have more than 24 hours away from home I could get someone to pop in and feed the girls but if Molly went out she'd never come in for anyone other than me,hubby or the kids she's so jumpy and timid.........I don't think she'd cope in a cattery at all.....Lexi and Martha would love it as long as they got loads of cuddles ...............it is a shame so many cats and dogs just get dumped on the streets when "owners" get bored and all too often they are replaced very quickly with another puppy or kitten

i know everywhere is full this time of year, i will carry on feeding him, defleaing and worming him, he is such a lovely man i'd hate to take him somewhere where he would be put to sleep, he seems happy for now, bless him. does anybody know where i could buy an outdoor weatherproof sleeping quarters for him so he has somewhere warm and dry for the winter, i did make one covered it in an old plastic shower curtain but it still got damp so i threw it away. i don't want him to stay under cars and bushes during the cold and wet weather

thank you for that. I will go and have a look at them. i have been to my daughters this week, she has been on holiday for a week so i have been looking after her cat Millie, She was a stray who was at the cat and dog shelter for a short time, she is so funny, every day she brought me at least 1 present, sometimes 2, i don't mind getting them but when it was baby rat and was alive i wasn't very happy with her, i put Millie back outside while i tried to catch this very fast rat, after an hour a manage to trap it in a container so i opened the door Millie came running in so i let the rat go. I was shattered after all my running round so decided to have a cup of coffee, i was just relaxing knowing millie was in and all was well. Then all of a sudden i heard a funny noise, when i looked in came millie with that bloody rat again, she'd only got out the kitchen window which i forgot to close! So i had to start allagain chasing it. I couldn't be upset with her i know it's only natural and she's so cute. Her mum's back now so she can deal with her presents.

i need some advice urgently, as you know i have been feeding and caring for a stray cat, i worm, deflea, feed, brush him etc, he is a lovely cat as i have mentioned before. On Sunday the morning started off as normal, we feed him and petted him, and he went on his way, later on he came back for his normal feed again, so yet again i fed him and stroked him and he went off again. However about half an hour later my daughter went to the kitchen and looked out the window and shouted the cats got blood all over him, i went out to see him and his poor face was covered in blood and he couldn't close his mouth and he was screaming with pain, he dragged himself under my husbands van, we then noticed his back end was strange, he couldn't walk properly and staggered about falling over still screaming in pain and shaking his head. i ran in the house and phoned a few vets but unfortunatly nobody would treat him even if we caught him, i was advised to ring the R>S>P>C>A which i did and was told it would be treated as an emergency. When the insprctor came we tried to catch him using the pole and a net but the poor thing was absolutly terrified and took off trying to run his back end falling over, to cut a long story short we lost him and he has never returned yet, i stayed up all night waiting for him and kept on looking for him but he has never been seen since. We live in battlehill new the black path where there are loads of bushes and trees which is where he went, we have looked everywher but to no avail, can anybody give me some advice on what to do, the R>S>P>C>A thinks he may have broken his pelvis. If he is still alive is there any chance he could come back so we can have him seen to.

good afternoon everybody, i have a couple of thing to share with you, Firstly i have become a grandmother, my son and daughter in law are now proud parents to a baby girl Lily Grace weighing in at 9lbs 4oz all are well. The next thing is to give you an update on the stray now called Mack he has settled so well into his new home, it's been 3 weeks now and he has only screamed theplace down twice to be out, he seems to be happy just doing his own thing, which is mostly sleeping and eating, his new family are so pleased with him, i still go regularly to see him, and he lets me have a cuddle which is great. Lastly, i have just been getting a small laser tourch, what fun my babies are having with it, ( i know you have to be very careful with them) Sophie waits for me coming downstairs in the morning for a play, Bobo is ready to play anytime and runs chasing it for hours, Jasmine is still a bit nervous of it but she does chase it them tries to jump over it, I have never laughed so much playing with them but the best thing of all is they all getting fitter by the day and enjoying themselves
